![]() ![]() OT1's superboss (boss itself and not the boss rush) had IMO one of the most well-thought out boss mechanics I've seen in a turn-based game. There is no interactivity with the environment and there are rarely any changes to the world itself even as you go through the story.īoss mechanics are still not that interesting. The environments and world are too much of a "pretty background". I know the "solo stories" thing has been debated on this subreddit endlessly, but the crossed path chapters make me realize how lonely most of the journey was and how refreshing it was to see party members interact with each other for once. I had to finish Hikari's story early so I could bench him. I could beat almost all the bosses before they can even act, and I didn't refer to any online sources or use the endgame jobs. The game is ridiculously easy by the time you hit the last 2 chapters mainly because of how broken Hikari is. Worst part of it all is I am still somehow overleveled by a level or two. OT has a lot of enemy variety, and it's a pity that you probably won't see a lot of them by the time you finish the game. I can go in a dungeon and fight maybe one set of enemies before fighting the boss. ![]() The dungeons are more interesting to look at, but they're way too short especially compared to the way too long ones in OT1. I've already massively praised the game throughout the subreddit, so I'll say a few negative things I've noticed after playing it for a while. Reminiscent of Chrono Trigger and finding that random island makes you wonder what cool thing is in there. I'm very much liking the secret islands/dungeons in the sea. I didn't really associate OT1 as being "open world" even if it technically is, but OT2 really does feel "open world". I enjoyed OT1 for what it was, and I expected to like OT2 as well, but it's unexpectedly becoming one of my favorite games.
